Hi! My name is Sónia Martins, and I’ll be your teacher.
I have a degree in Languages and a specialization in Teaching Portuguese as a Second Language.

I started teaching over 20 years ago, using the same traditional methods as most of my colleagues — but soon realized they weren’t delivering the results I wanted for my students.

Years later, I decided to return to university to study neuroscience — exploring how the brain and nervous system work in relation to learning — so I could integrate that knowledge into my teaching approach.

In addition, I trained as a language coach to support students who were struggling with mindset or psychological barriers to progress.
Today, at Portuguese Accelerator, I work alongside a team of psychologists, doctors, and nutritionists to help learners overcome these challenges and achieve their full potential.
