Portuguese Accelerator is not a traditional language course. It is a structured exam preparation service for students who need a clear path towards official Portuguese certification.

Each lesson is built around your target exam, your current level and the exact skills you need to improve: reading, listening, writing, speaking, grammar, vocabulary and exam strategy.

With personalised feedback, mock exam practice and a results-oriented method, you will learn how to prepare with focus, confidence and purpose.

Our programmes also support students in developing effective study strategies, also for adult learners and younger students who may struggle with attention, consistency, organisation or ADHD-related learning challenges.

Because exam preparation is not only about language knowledge, we also work on confidence, emotional regulation and performance under pressure, helping students approach the exam with greater calm, clarity and self-trust.

If you want to learn Portuguese for fun, many courses can help.

Your teacher

Hi! My name is Sónia Martins, and I will be your teacher throughout your Portuguese exam preparation journey.

I am a European Portuguese native teacher with nearly 30 years of teaching experience and a long-standing specialisation in Portuguese for foreign learners.

At Portuguese Accelerator, I help students prepare for official Portuguese exams — from CIPLE A2 to B1, B2, C1 and C2 — with structure, strategy and personalised feedback.

My approach combines clear methodology, exam-focused practice and a deep understanding of how students learn. My background in Neuroscience and Psychology applied to learning allows me to support focus, confidence and performance under pressure.

I do not believe in random lessons. I believe in clear goals, demanding preparation and a practical plan that helps each student move towards certification with confidence.

I started taking Portuguese lessons with Sónia from the UK, having had little exposure to the language in my daily life. I really appreciate how she varies each class between grammar, listening, watching, and speaking, and always asks for feedback. She’s flexible, open to suggestions, and takes my input seriously. Over time, we’ve become close friends since I have lessons twice a week and often talk about my personal life. Even though I’m not in a Portuguese-speaking environment and don’t always have much time for homework, after a year and a half, I can understand most conversations—and people often compliment my accent! I truly enjoy our lessons together.
